I just got done interviewing Ken Varga, author of “How to Get Customers To Call, Buy and Beg For More”. He is one of the best marketers and entrepreneurs I know.

He will be at my Connection Mastery Event September 12-14th in LA.
http://www.secretstowealthandpower.com

Come and spend some time with him, you will be glad you did.

Here are some of his thoughts about getting more clients, referrals, and increasing the overall profits within your company. He acquired over 8 million customers during his career and started 35 different companies.

He focused on wowing his customers. Little things, like calling his customers and prospects the day before their birthday to be the first one to wish them a happy birthday. Ken had the people who worked for him in the financial services make a list of the 1000 people they wanted as a client.

He would then make sure those people received something in the mail from him every single month. One month it might have been an article he read, another month a free report, another month could have been a holiday card he would send to his clients and the potential prospects. Constant communication was his key.

Make your customers an advocate to help them do the selling for you. When he used to sell insurance to nurses, every time they referred his company business he entered them into a contest for a free trip.

Always be giving…

Give a book

Give a free report

Give great value.

The law of reciprocity will kick in and play to your advantage.

Listen to my interview with Ken Varga here:

http://larrybenet.audioacrobat.com/download/3981316f-42c9-11a6-cd8c-4a2f2b508ab3.mp3

Ideas are a dime a dozen, the people that implement them are priceless. Ken is great at taking action on many of these excellent ideas. How are you doing at taking action on the things that will make a difference in getting you more clients, more sales, and more profits? Please let me know by commenting here on my blog.

Michael Port, author of Book Yourself Solid recently posted a blog post and hosted a podcast on the topic of “Connections and Influence”. By the way I would recommend you pick up a copy of his book. It is quite good and would provide significant value to you in your particular business endeavors.

To read his post or listen to his podcast you can click on this link:
http://www.michaelport.com/blog/posts/influence-and-connections.html

Michael talked about building relationships and adding value for thought leaders and reaching out to famous authors and business experts. I have been building relationships with authors and top business experts for years and a simple thing I have found that works, and works well, is if you can add value to them first.

Is there a way you can help an author sell more of his or her books? Can you buy a handful of the authors book, and have it personally autographed, and get it in the hands of key influencers in the market?

Can you refer them a speaking opportunity? Can you host a teleseminar with them where you can get them a lot of massive exposure all at one time?

Another thing about top authors and business experts is no matter how successful they are, they always have more ideas, and projects they want to do. Can you find out what is most important to them and volunteer a few hours a week of your personal time to help them achieve their goals?

Can you be a volunteer staff member at their next seminar, which helps them and will help you at the same time, with the valuable knowledge you will pick up from being in attendance at their event.

If you can build and nurture strategic relationships with key industry experts whom can help your core customer, that is a big deal, because there are now more ways you can add value to them.

Next time you are in front of one of your key prospects or clients, and you know one of their big challenges or goals, surprise them by introducing them to a famous author or speaker who can help them, or send them that autographed book and you will be amazed at the response you get back.

Earlier this year I was with the CEO of a multi-billion dollar financial services company. As I was leaving his office, I asked him who his favorite authors were and what was the number one thing he was working on personally for the year.

He told me that he wanted to manage his time better and become more organized. So I reached out to a famous author that I didn’t know, David Allen of Getting Things Done, and asked if he could possibly autograph a book for this CEO. I told him I was willing to pay for it, or he could use it as a marketing expense to get his name and message in front of a tremendous target prospect, as this company has tens of thousands of people that work within their organization.

He ended up sending an autographed copy of the book on his dime. I’m sure that doing this will provide him with the opportunity to have an excellent return on his initial investment.

All of these are simple ideas that you can easily implement in your marketing efforts.

What are some of the things that you have done to add value when you are trying to connect with thought leaders and business experts. Please comment on my blog and let me know what you are doing strategically within your particular business endeavors.

Sometimes you just want to leave a quick follow-up message for a connection, but you don’t have a specific agenda for the call. You just want to keep yourself fresh in the connection’s mind.

One way I do this is to leave short voice messages for them when I know they’ll be out of the office, such as after hours or on the weekends. I’ll just give a quick call and mention a recent project they’re working on and ask if there’s any way I can be a resource or a connector for them.

Even if the don’t return the call, I’m fresh in their mind and doing the most important thing for them: Offering to be of value. Use this same strategy with your own connections and you’ll see how well it works.

Until we connect again,

Someone once said success is is not an event, but a habit. Successful connecting is the same way - so you want to be sure you’re developing habits that create strong and lasting connections with people. And a great way to be memorable while doing that is to do what few other people do … touch base personally with a card.

If you kept a running stack of blank cards handy, it would take you 10 or 15 minutes to write a quick, handwritten note to a connection of yours. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate - perhaps just a thank you or a mention that you’ve heard about them from someone … but write it out by hand.

People don’t tend to do this because it “takes time” … but if you set aside just a few minutes every day - even to send one single card out - it will pay off by creating connections that aren’t easily forgotten.

Make a point to get a package of cards this week and use this powerful tip to become a better connector.

Until we connect again.
