How To Connect Even When People Are Unavailable

Sometimes you just want to leave a quick follow-up message for a connection, but you don’t have a specific agenda for the call. You just want to keep yourself fresh in the connection’s mind.

One way I do this is to leave short voice messages for them when I know they’ll be out of the office, such as after hours or on the weekends. I’ll just give a quick call and mention a recent project they’re working on and ask if there’s any way I can be a resource or a connector for them.

Even if the don’t return the call, I’m fresh in their mind and doing the most important thing for them: Offering to be of value. Use this same strategy with your own connections and you’ll see how well it works.

Until we connect again,
