How To Use Interviews To Connect With Experts
By Larry Benet on Nov 6, 2007 in Business, Networking
If you have a newsletter or mailing list, you can provide value to them through interviews with people who matter to them. Here’s how:
- Your list is likely made up of people with a common interest, so touch base with a few of them and find out what’s most important to them.
- When you have a list of topics, seek out experts and let them know you have an audience for them. You don’t have to get A-list people to start - anyone who can add value can be a good place to begin.
- Then hold a live call on a free conference call system (and be sure to record it). Have a good set of questions ready to make sure you’re getting the best results from your time.
- After the call, email your list and let them know where they can pick up the recording. This is a good time to ask them to reply to you as well so you can connect with them.
- Follow up with the person you’ve interviewed and strengthen your connection with them. Use the 4 tips I talked about earlier.
Repeat these steps regularly - once a month or even once a week if you can - and you’ll grow your network quickly and effectively.
Until we connect again.
