If You Want to Get More Referrals… Be More Memorable
By Larry Benet on Oct 7, 2008 in Featured, More Clients
If you want to avoid the recession, be amazing at what you do, so others will talk about your product or service. Check out one way my friend Ben Mack, the Author of Think Two Products Ahead is getting people to talk about him.

What are things you are doing to be more memorable and to get people talking about you? Please let me know as I would love to learn what is working for you.

Great question- I’m looking forward to some of the ideas from others’ comments. Things that have worked well for me include:
* Talking with people in a genuine way. Specifically, showing I not only understand them and their challenges, hopes & dreams and want to help them… while sharing the authentic me (i.e. talented and yet-also-flawed/human side of me). I make more connections when I’m myself, rather than some robotic version of what I think people want to see! I teach this a lot when working to empower women in business, and it works well for them too!
* Giving away memorable books w/ my card inside has done wonders (like “As a Man Thinketh,” “Dare to Win,” etc.
* Giving before receiving. I know that you (Larry) talk about this all the time, but it’s really true. People appreciate you more when you serve them first… and you feel better. ‘No residual “ew- I had to sell them” feeling!
* Being dramatic! I mean this in the best of ways, & only a few people see me this way (I guess I still try to put on this “professional front” a lot… : ) When I’m feeling especially uninhibited in front of a group or during a presentation, I bring out a lot of different characters (probably who I would be if I had multiple personalities) and have a lot of fun with it! This definitely gets attention and gets me remembered!
That’s my two-cents-worth! Who else has something to offer?
