Oprah’s Big Give Valuable Business Lesson…
By Larry Benet on Mar 31, 2008 in Business

Here is a valuable business lesson that you can learn from Oprah’s Big Give. I was watching week 5 of Oprah’s Big Give and one of the contestants Sheg Aranmolate was kicked off the show because one of the judges said Oprah’s Big Give is about finding people and really figuring out what they need.
Sheg was trying to help a family with 28 children, 24 of them were adopted and many of them had special needs.
What the Murphy family needed was financial help, but Sheg never really asked. He spent 500 dollars on a very nice Hawaiian lunch.
How often in business do you have an agenda or product or service you want to sell someone, and you aren’t listening to the needs of the client or prospect.
Please let me know your thoughts and any strategies you use to better determine and listen to the specific needs of your clients, customers, and prospects.

What I do is look at the person tallking. Look them in the eyes. It is difficult to think about other things when you have great eye contact. This helps me focus on their needs. It is fun to really ‘get’them, and then give them what they said they wanted, how I can give it to them. Few people listen to others anymore. I remember how you looked into my eyes with your blue eyes when we met recently. I felt acknowledged, listened to . Your writing down of what I was looking for made me feel I was heard, really heard! Thanks Larry.
